Tiger Goby Fish

The Tiger Goby, *Tridentiger trigonocephalus*, is a small, hardy goby species known for its distinctive tiger-like stripes. Its body is typically a light tan or brown with bold, dark brown to black vertical bands running along its sides. The head is relatively large with prominent eyes.

In a home aquarium, the Tiger Goby typically reaches a size of about 3 to 4 inches. A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended to provide adequate space and stable water conditions. They appreciate a sandy substrate as they are known to sift through it in search of food. Plenty of rockwork and hiding places should be provided to make them feel secure. The Tiger Goby is generally peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive fish of similar size.

The Tiger Goby is a carnivorous species. In the aquarium, their diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other small frozen or live invertebrates. They may also accept high-quality sinking pellets or flakes designed for carnivorous fish.

Distinguishing between male and female Tiger Gobies can be difficult, and there are no readily apparent external differences. Breeding in a home aquarium is not commonly reported.
