Snowflake Clownfish

The Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish, *Amphiprion ocellaris*, is a captivating and popular variant of the classic Ocellaris Clownfish, distinguished by its unique and highly variable white patterns resembling snowflakes scattered across its vibrant orange body. These patterns can range from small flecks to large, irregular patches, making each individual a living work of art.

A minimum aquarium size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish, with larger tanks preferred for pairs or groups. Provide plenty of live rock for hiding places and potential host anemones, although they can thrive without one. They are generally peaceful and make excellent additions to community aquariums with other docile fish.

In the wild, Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish form symbiotic relationships with host anemones such as the Bubble Tip Anemone (*Entacmaea quadricolor*), Sebae Anemone (*Heteractis crispa*), and Magnificent Sea Anemone (*Heteractis magnifica*). While they may host in an aquarium, it is not a requirement for their survival.

Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish are omnivores and readily accept a varied diet. Offer a mix of high-quality marine flake food, pellets, frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped seafood, as well as occasional offerings of marine algae or spirulina. Feed small amounts multiple times a day.

In a home aquarium, Snowflake Ocellaris Clownfish typically reach a size of 3-4 inches. They are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning they are born male and the largest individual in a group will transition into a female. Breeding in captivity is achievable with proper conditioning and a suitable breeding environment.
