🪸 Aquarium setup
Royal Flasher Wrasses are active swimmers and appreciate plenty of open swimming space along with rockwork where they can retreat when stressed.
They do not require a sand bed like some other wrasses.
🍤 Feeding
They're planktivores/carnivores and do best with several small feedings throughout the day.
Good foods include:
Mysis shrimp
Enriched brine shrimp
Frozen zooplankton
Finely chopped seafood
Quality marine pellets
Marine flakes
🐠 Tankmates
They're generally peaceful and work well with other peaceful reef fish. Avoid aggressive fish that may constantly chase or intimidate them.
A male can be kept with females, and groups can produce impressive flashing displays. Multiple males can become territorial, especially in smaller aquariums.
⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT: Lid
Royal Flasher Wrasses are notorious jumpers.
A tight-fitting mesh lid is strongly recommended. Seal gaps around equipment, overflow boxes, and plumbing because they can find surprisingly small openings.
⭐ Overall
Excellent reef fish if you want something colorful, active, peaceful, and relatively small. Their biggest requirements are a secure lid, frequent feeding, and adequate swimming space.
