Description
Description
Bring constant movement and bold patterning to your aquarium with the Australian Stripey. This active, social species does best when kept with others of its kind, where its natural schooling behavior can really stand out. Despite its energetic personality, the Stripey is generally peaceful and can make an impressive addition to a spacious community or display aquarium.
The Australian Stripey has a tall, flattened body with striking diagonal bands that alternate between dark black and bright yellow. While its appearance can resemble certain butterflyfish, it belongs to the sea chub family. In nature, it is found around reefs, rocky shorelines, sheltered bays, and estuaries across areas of the western Pacific and surrounding regions.
Feeding is typically straightforward, as this species accepts a wide range of prepared and frozen foods. A balanced diet can include algae-based frozen foods, dried marine algae, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other high-quality omnivore preparations. Offering both plant and meaty foods helps provide the variety this active fish needs.
