Description
Description
The Goldtail Angelfish (Pomacanthus chrysurus), also known as the Earspot Angelfish, is a striking marine species native to coral-rich reefs of the western Indian Ocean. Reaching up to approximately 13 inches in captivity (33 cm SL), it is prized by advanced hobbyists for its bold coloration and dramatic presence. However, its large adult size, specific dietary needs—especially sponge and tunicate-based foods—and requirement for spacious, well-established systems make it unsuitable for beginners. This species adds visual impact to a large saltwater tank but demands serious commitment to water quality, suitable tankmates, and robust husbandry practices.
