Description
Nice size around 4-5 inches.
The Rock Beauty Angelfish (Holacanthus tricolor) is one of the most striking saltwater fish found throughout the tropical western Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Known for its vivid coloration—bright yellow on the front half of its body blending into deep black toward the tail—this angelfish is a true standout in any marine aquarium. Reaching up to 8–10 inches in length, the Rock Beauty thrives in reef environments rich in coral, sponges, and rocky crevices. In the wild, it feeds primarily on sponges and algae, making it essential for aquarists to provide a diet that replicates its natural nutrition.
Caring for Rock Beauty Angelfish in Aquariums
Keeping a Rock Beauty Angelfish successfully requires experience and attention to water quality, diet, and tank setup. This species prefers large tanks (at least 100 gallons) with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. Because Rock Beauties can be territorial, they are best kept singly or with compatible tankmates in a peaceful marine community. Maintaining stable temperatures between 72–78°F, a pH of 8.1–8.4, and pristine water conditions will help ensure their long-term health. With proper care, the Rock Beauty Angelfish not only enhances a saltwater aquarium’s visual appeal but also brings a touch of Caribbean reef elegance to any marine setup
